Miguel's "Kaleidoscope Dream" First-Week Sales Projections Increase

R&B singer Miguel's new Kaleidoscope Dream has an even bigger chance of debuting in the Top 5 list this coming up week based on increased sales projections.Based on weekend estimates, Miguel's new LP should easily make a bid for the Top 3.

Sony Music will have six of the Top 10 and 8 of the Top 15 on next week's chart as Mumford & Sons holds on to the top for a second week. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Mumford & Sons Babel (Glassnote) 155-165 *Muse (Warner Bros.) 110-120k *Miguel (RCA) 60-65k (HITS Daily Double)

Initial estimates had the LP pushing no morethan 60,000 tops.

Grammy-nominated RCA R&B/hip hop hybrid Miguel's sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream, the follow-up to his acclaimed debut, 2010's All I Want Is You, should do between 55-60k. eOne hi-hop artist DJ Drama, T.I.'s DJ, should do in the same 14-17k area for his latest, Quality Street Music. The 11-track set is packed with bedroom grooves including the 808-booming "Arch & Point" and the melodious, erotic "Use Me." Miguel proves he's a master of wordplay on "Do You ...," a mellow, hippie love ode produced by Jerry Wonda, where he croons "I'm gonna do you like drugs tonight." He also flexes his alternative edge on "Don't Look Back," which samples the Zombies' "Time of the Season." (Associated Press)

The singer's debut only pushed just over 10,000 copiesits opening week but managed to flirt with going gold two years ago.

To say Miguel's R&B career got off to a shaky start would be an understatement. After producing a top-10 single with the album's title track, "All I Want Is You" featuring J. Cole, Miguel's debut sold just 11,000 copies in its first week. Fortunately for Miguel, his debut has now sold nearly 400,000 copies, and his sophomore effort may soon be reaching similar heights. With "Kaleidoscope Dream" Miguel continues to push the sonic boundaries of R&B music with huge electronic influences. (The Triangle)
