Young Money star Nicki Minaj recently talked about her on-stage attire and what outfit in particular ranks as her most favorite since entering the mainstream spotlight.
Rather than name a favorite, Nicki opted to go with her most comfortable outfit.
"You know, for the Grammys I wore the Oscar de la Renta dress and it was the most comfortable dress, the most comfortable stage outfit I've ever worn. To me, it's about being comfortable onstage. If I can be comfortable, then I'm very, very, very happy. More recently, I liked what I wore for the BET Awards, when I was doing "Beez in the Trap" 'cuz it was sexy and it made me feel really powerful." (Rolling Stone)
Last May, stylist Niki Schwan spoke on how the female rap star thrives with her fearless fashion approach.
"She never takes herself too seriously, which makes this outlandish fun style really approachable and that appeals to women and girls in a huge way. She incorporates tons of humor into her style and is fearless in her approach, which I think people really admire and appreciate -- as an artist, a woman, and a rising icon. She really pushes women and girls to have fun with their style, to be unique unto yourself...which sums up her statement, in a way, without even really trying." (Ottawa Citizen)
Leading up to Halloween last year, Minaj became Google's top searched costume.
The "Super Bass" rapper, who is known for her colorful wigs and wacky over-the-top outfits, is near the top of the list of most-searched Halloween costumes on Google. Only "Playboy Bunny", "Black Swan", and "Angry Birds" were searched more than the in-your-face rapper. There aren't many actual Nicki Minaj costumes - but plenty of websites and online video tutorials on how to be the rapper have been popping up. Minaj, who hails from Queens' Jamaica section and graduated from prestigious LaGuardia High School, beat out popular costume ideas like "Charlie Sheen," "Pan Am" and "Captain America" in Web searches. NickiMinajHalloweenCostume.com and NickiMinajCostume.com have more tips on transforming yourself into the rapper. (New York Daily News)
Back in April, she credited Dipset's Cam'ron for sparking the pink craze.
"First dude, first dude to wear pink and drive a pink Range [Rover] and wear pink coats and all that and make it pop. Pink bandanas and all that," Minaj told radio host Tim Westwood. "He paved the way for me to wear pink. Wow. Wow. Wow. We gotta bow down to Cam. D*mn, son. [Taking him on tour?] No, but I'll ask him to come out for a few days. I know he's working on his own stuff these days." (Tim Westwood TV)
