Papoose Accused Of "Rushing" Summer Jam XX Stage, But Had TDE's Support

Pap's appearance at Summer Jam caused a bit of a stir.

Many in attendance at Summer Jam XX yesterday were surprised to see NYC emcee Papoose perform a brief two-track set after Kendrick Lamar's exit.

Although he was initially accused of "rushing" the stage, it turns out the TDE camp made the appearance happen, as Pap showed Kendrick Lamar support early in his career. The two also collaborated on a track called "Lyrical Gangsta" last year.

Hot 97's program director and personality Ebro Darden wasn't informed of the appearance, which was facilitated by his co-host Peter Rosenberg, who spoke with "an unnamed representative of the camp" about it the morning before.

Ebro was upset by this, to say the least - he was supposedly in complete control of the entire event. Afterward, the two interacted on Twitter, and Ebro challenged Papoose to come on his morning show "The Realness" to discuss it, denying any prior knowledge of the performance.

The Hot 97 personalities came together this morning to talk it out, beginning with Ebro stating that he had "no idea how Papoose got on stage after Kendrick Lamar."

Rosenberg went on to explain the exchange mentioned above. "When I saw them [the TDE crew] at the venue, I go, 'So that's really happening?' And he's like, 'Listen, Pap's looked out for Kendrick for a long time,'" he said.

Co-host Cipha Sounds also weighed in, citing DJ Kay Slay's relationship with both Papoose and Top Dawg Entertainment. "We know Kay Slay's relationship with Top Dawg, that it's OG hood forever," he said.
