Teen rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em recently discussed his working relationship with Kanye West and said the Grammy-winning producer has been a fan since his 2008 dispute with Ice-T.
Aside from admiring Yeezy, Soulja Boy also revealed joint records they have been working on.
"He been f*ckin' with me like when I had that little situation with Ice-T, he reached out and was like, 'What the f*ck! Leave Soulja Boy alone,'" Soulja Boy explained in an interview. "I ain't never really get a chance to thank him for that...so he just reached out to me. We got in the studio, chopped it up and it was like history. Kanye, that n*gga great. He one of the greatest to do it. I produced some tracks [for him]. We got in the studio like two weeks ago and just really just I think Kanye...I work with a lot of artists but out of all of the artists I worked with I think that's the only artist that try to push my talent to the next level, like it wasn't easy working with him...Of course the work relationship is gonna be mutual. My work ethic is crazy and of course his work ethic is crazy. Kanye ain't even in the country right now and he still trying to work. Like I got some sh*t coming with him, me and Drake that's gonna be stuuupid. Some sh*t with me and Drake leaked earlier this week but we just planning on taking the music sh*t to the next level." Writing via Twitter earlier this month, Soulja Boy said Yeezy has helped him develop his skills.
"In the studio wit Kanye goin innnnnnn! Making HISTORY," Soulja Boy wrote Monday (October 12) evening. "Just wrapped studio session shoutout to Kanye one of the Best artist I know. He pushin my talent to the next level let's go 2010!" (Soulja Boy Tell Em's Twitter)
According to Soulja Boy, both emcees will also exchange beats for their new solo projects.
"I'm working on Kanye's next album right now," Soulja Boy revealed in an interview over the summer. "We working together on production because he makes beats and I make beats. Right now I'm remixing a couple of records for him. I'm actually working on [Kanye's] album while he's working on my album." (Rap-Up)
Soulja Boy previously said he would likely produce a record alongside Ye.
"I know a million producers that are no-names, but they got hot beats," he said in an interview. "I will be going back in the lab to produce beats on this album, I really haven't produced since my second album, but I'm looking forward to doing a 50/50 split beat with Kanye West. I think that'll be hot because he's a great lyricist, but an awesome producer as well. I feel like I'm an awesome producer too, and both of us in the studio together at the same time can come out with a smash." (Radio Planet TV)
